When the fire brigade arrived, the building was already fully ablaze, with meter-high flames shooting across the roof.
After the operations manager investigated the situation, the fire brigades launched an extinguishing attack. A total of eight fire departments with around 120 people were on duty. The emergency services were able to prevent the flames from spreading to other buildings – the former inn is in the residential area: “The building is a bit out of the way, so we were able to protect two neighboring houses,” says Alfred Stummer, commander of the Enns volunteer fire department.
