Critics now place the oversized Jerusalem cross tattoo on the chest of the designated US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in these traditions.
The Jerusalem Cross is the emblem of the Franciscans in the Holy Land, who have been guarding Christian sites on papal orders since 1342. It is the coat of arms of the “Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem” (Grave Knights), has its place in the coat of arms of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem – and as a tattoo motif under the skin of many pilgrims.
