The number of victims can be seen from a list published on Saturday (local time) by the Los Angeles County Department of Forensic Medicine. Five bodies were found in and around the Pacific Palisades district and eleven in and around the suburb of Pasadena. So far, the authorities had assumed a total of eleven deaths.
According to the fire protection authority’s latest balance sheet, around 12,000 houses have been destroyed so far. In the particularly hard-hit Pacific Palisades district alone, more than 9,500 hectares were destroyed.

Further evacuations ordered
On Saturday, the fires spread to previously untouched areas of Los Angeles, and the authorities ordered evacuations in other parts of the city. The US National Weather Service warned of weather conditions that could encourage further fires or lead to the expansion of existing ones until at least the beginning of next week.
