The Ski World Championships in Saalbach will provide plenty to talk about at the Gala Night of Sports in Linz’s Brucknerhaus on February 7th. On the day of the end of the day, which the OÖNachrichten is once again staging together with LIVA and the support of top partner Oberbank, the Super-G world champion will be determined at the Zwölferkogel. The departures then follow on the weekend. Someone who knows exactly what it’s like when you have to “deliver” as the favorite at a home World Cup will be on stage at the OÖN gala: Petra Kronberger will be a star guest at the Brucknerhaus in Linz on February 7th their rare stops.
“Such public appearances are not really my thing, but I feel honored that I was invited to Linz,” says the now 55-year-old ski icon, who experienced ups and downs in Saalbach in 1991. As an all-rounder who was the first to celebrate a World Cup victory in all disciplines, the Salzburg woman was hailed as the top favorite by the media in Glemmtal even before the first race. The expectations were enormous and almost too much for the then 22-year-old. Nevertheless, she “delivered” the expected gold medal in the downhill.
