Both times the young man had just returned home from going out when the fire started. Both times he was the discoverer, which made him suspicious from the start, it was said in the trial against the 21-year-old.
The public prosecutor’s office accused him of intentionally setting a paper bin on fire twice; on the second occasion, a major fire broke out that destroyed his parents’ business. Damage: 1.5 million euros.
The son “only” pleaded guilty to “negligently” causing a fire. He was careless when flicking a cigarette and he also had psychological problems.
The court found him guilty of the premeditated act: two years’ imprisonment, eight of which were unconditional. The verdict is not yet final.
