Rainbacher’s young skiers on TV: “A really cool thing”

The snow is becoming less, the costs are increasing, the desire for skiing is decreasing: under the title “The End of a Ski Nation”, private broadcaster Puls4 discussed the declining desire for the Austrian national sport in its documentary last night. “Who wants and can ski these days?” is the question that journalist Claudia Sandler asks herself.

Among all the problems and challenges, the documentary also showed a positive example – from the Innviertel. The Rainbach Ski Club has been organizing a three-day ski course in the Hochficht ski area in cooperation with the local elementary school for more than 20 years. The association from the Schärdinger community came to this great attention almost by chance. “We wanted to present this type of ski course a little more, in which a club works together with an elementary school and offers a three-day course for all children at the school at a very low cost,” says Christoph Hartinger from the Rainbacher Ski Club.

So team member Stefan Meindl simply asked Puls4 breakfast television. The email ended up relatively quickly with Claudia Sandler, who was currently working on the documentation. Just a few weeks and a few conversations later, the camera team finally set off from Vienna to the Innviertel.

Not your everyday ski course

53 children from Rainbach were on the slopes again this year and cut a good figure not only there, but also in front of the TV cameras. Interviews were conducted with carers and children before they left for the ski area. Sandler then accompanied the seven groups through the ski course day on the slopes and recorded various impressions that can be seen in the documentary. “For us and especially for the children, the campaign was of course a really cool thing. After all, it’s not everyday that you get to stand in front of the camera,” says Hartinger.
