The Linz City Councilor Eva Schobesberger (Greens) presented the climate strip of the city of Linz (1816–2024) yesterday. This is a color visualization of the average temperature developed by Ed Hawkins from the University of Reading (GB) – the deviation up and down (see graphic) is based on the medium (0) from 1971 to 2000. A blue strip means “cooler “, a red” warmer “than in the period” 0 “. The Linz climate strip was created by the Linz city climatologist Johannes Horak with the help of data from Geosphere Austria.

The climate strip shows that since 1997 it was warmer every year than the long -term temperature agent, which is 9.3 degrees Celsius. “The previous year in particular took up a top position and was the hottest year for Linz so far,” says Schobesberger. The evaluation of the data from the previous year shows that apart from November, there were sometimes significantly more than 1.5 degrees too warm every month. The 20 warmest years of the past 200 years have all been in the closer past. Of the ten hottest years in Linz, eight fall into the period after 2010.
