The medical possibilities are becoming increasingly diverse, and with them the requirements at the operating table. This requires trained staff. In 2022, the specialist profession of operating assistance, or OTA for short, was launched in Austria. In three years of training, specialists should acquire medical knowledge and manual-technical skills. So also at the Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic. The training center has established an “upgrade” course for already experienced surgical staff. After two years, the first ten OTAs have now completed their training. So they are the first in Austria.
