What does the abbreviation “KGV” stand for? What does “Dow Jones” mean? And why do a bear and a bull have something to do with stocks? The OÖN Börs play has been delivering answers to questions such as this and many others for many years. The simulation with real courses that the OÖNachrichten in cooperation with Raiffeisenbank Oberösterreich is to make the daily little thrill of the securities trade in a playful way. At the same time, on the other hand, it is a good way for many participants to get to know the stock market market from scratch and to acquire competencies in this area.
For this reason, among other things, there is the pupil and class ratings in the OÖN Börs play- which runs until March 26th this year, in which Innviertel schools also demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Many of them are now permanent guests.
HAK Schärding in first place
One of these schools is, for example, the Schärding trade academy, where, according to director Irene Wiesinger, the exchange game is a “fixed part of the training”: “The stock exchange game is an exciting and entertaining format that motivates the students to deal more intensively with the stock market. The competition within the class increases interest in economic issues,” says Wiesinger.
The current class classification (as of March 5) shows how well participation in class is important, which leads the 4AK of the HAK Schärding among the more than 100 participating classes. However, the long -term learning effect is more important than the interim success, says Wiesinger. “The students learn how the stock exchange works. It is particularly important to deal with why the courses of the investments have fallen or increased.”
