Difficult year for sun protection manufacturers

In 2024 there was also a difficult year for the market for external sun protection. The business was declining last year, as the market watcher industry radar reported this week. The manufacturers’ sales dropped by seven percent to 233 million euros. In 2023, sales were still 250.5 million euros, after 281 million euros 2022 and 255 million euros 2021.

According to industry radar managing director Andreas Kreutzer, the industry got away with a blue eye because the renovation business, driven by the single and two-family house area, grew slightly with 2.7 percent. The sun protection systems would also have benefited from the window exchange. With around every second window exchanged, an external sun protection was also installed.

In contrast, twelve percent less sun protection elements were installed in the new building than in the previous year. Especially the new apartment was weakened in the previous year.
