According to a study by Innsbruck experts and British colleagues, the melt will be melted quickly in the coming years. And: The temperature plus goes towards 2.7 degrees until 2100. The finding can also be flipped to the rest of the country.

According to the new calculations in the journal “The Cryosphere”, only three percent of the glacier mass from 2017 will remain in the Ötztaler and Stubai Alps in the Ötztaler and Stubai Alps when the average temperatures then only reach 1.5 degrees above the pre-industrial level. Of course, from today’s perspective, the probability of this must be considered extremely low. The year 2024 was the first since the start of the measurement, which was an average of over 1.5 degrees warmer worldwide. Experts assume that such years will be piling up in the future.
