“We found the horses in very bad condition,” said the Freistadt animal shelter at the request of the OÖNachrichten. “For most animals it was probably a last minute, they were so emaciated. Many have serious injuries.” Any help came too late for three horses.
Dozens of employees of the animal shelter and the Freistadt animal rescue center have been on duty since last week to provide the 28 horses found in a courtyard in the Freistadt district in Schlimm. The volunteers worked almost without a break over the Easter holidays. “At first the horses had to be removed. We were in no time boxing and organized everything for transport,” says an employee of the shelter who had been involved in the rescue since the first day.
