Le Creuset is considered a pioneer for colorful cookware. Marilyn Monroe is said to have owned a 12-piece set in “Elysees Yellow”. It is said that she would have preferred to cook pasta and egg dish. This year it has been 100 years ago that two Belgians-one one in a gussian expert, the other one enamel specialist-experimented with their materials and made their first pans in the French Fresnoy-Le-Grand.
Secret mixture
To date, the original foundry in the north of the country is manufactured, with each piece going through the hands of several artisans. The raw material, a secret mixture of pig iron, steel, iron and other components, is melted in a huge boiler. It takes seven days for a cast ice cream pot to be produced. What is reflected in the price, the roasters cost several hundred euros.
The first pan was launched in 1925 in the color of the stove red, a shining orange -red – and became a seller in the middle of the conventional gray -wiped pots.
