After only nine days it ended again: As reported, the western bike path on the Nibelungen Bridge was dismantled again. On Wednesday evening, around 300 cyclists had demonstrated on the bridge to maintain the second wheel strip. Thomas Hofer, spokesman for the cycling lobby Linz, says: “The columns of cyclists of the demo showed: Bicycle bells can also be loud. If you break down the bike path before being seriously tested, you accept step backwards.”

However, the demonstration did not remain the only protest against the end for the cycling lane. When the tree nests came to break down the concrete guidelines of the bike path, several activists from Extinction Rebellion sat in front of the concrete blocks at around 7 p.m. The construction work therefore had to be briefly interrupted. The police were alerted and dissolved protest around 10 p.m. “In a night and fog campaign, the state government tries to reverse the achievements of modern transport policy- in favor of motorized private transport,” Rosi Grillmair, activist of extinction rebellion is quoted in a broadcast.
