The Budget of the Ministry of Education grows this year or in 2026 by half a billion euros each to 12 and then 12.5 billion euros. At the same time, in 2025 a contribution of 76 million euros will be made to the budget consolidation, said Minister of Education Christoph Wegenreige (NEOS) in front of journalists. Saving is saved, for example, when it comes to re -occupied in the administration, and team teaching also falls away in small classes. As planned, on the other hand, the expansion of German funding and the opportunities bonus are implemented.

The key data of the educational budget were probably not entirely by chance as the first detailed budget – due to the high proportion of personnel costs of 86 percent (especially teachers), this also grows reliably during savings times. The majority of the budgetplus is explained by the coverage of the salary financial statements for the public service. For this purpose, the previous government still implemented pact measures as well as black-red-pink initiatives. All in all – also due to growing number of schoolchildren and additional German funding – there are expected to be at least almost 900 teacher plan places.
