“The function of legislative advisors is to analyze, design, propose and carry out the legislative task. Any function outside of that is wrong.“If someone wants to do politics, they should do it out of their own pocket and not spend it that way. The money, which is the same for everyone, should be used to improve the laws and to make the Legislative Power work better,” said the official from La Libertad Avanza (LLA) in his usual press conference.

He added: “We have a very firm position. This goes beyond what is beyond Senator Abdala, this goes for all deputies and senators. It is a matter for the Legislative Branch and, in fact, Congress and both chambers are subject to access to public information that may be requested for the functioning of each of the senators, including that of Senator Abdala who will have to explain what the functions of his advisors were.”

Abdala’s controversial revelations about his advisors

The senator’s confession occurred during an interview on the TN channel, when the host asked him about the number of collaborators. “I have more than 15. Many of them in San Luis. My desire is to be governor and for that I need to keep the territory alive,” he admitted.

The answer surprised journalists, who seemed to be in disbelief. Abdala even went further, saying: “They are my modules,” he said, referring to the money he receives from the Legislative Branch.

However, the host Jonathan Viale retorted: “You can’t use your modules to be governor. They are for you to pass laws. They are not for doing politics, that is wrong.” Meanwhile, a journalist clarified: “They are not your modules, they are our modules. We pay for them.”

Although Abdala claimed to have more than 15 advisors, the Senate website reports that he hired a total of 20 collaborators. When asked how many are in San Luis, the senator said that they are “low-level” and admitted: “Of the total, about 12 or 13 are in San Luis. They are coming with me and I give you my word that they will go with me.”
