The Food and non-alcoholic beverages sector increased by 3.6% and, as every month, was the sector with the greatest impact on the average CPI.
The inflation was located in the 4.2% in Augustabout 0.2 percentage points (pp) above July, when it was 4%. In this way, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) failed to break through the 4% threshold and closed above expectations, which were around 3.9%.

The sector that increased the most in August was Housing, water, electricity and other fuels (7%), due to increases in housing rent and related expenses, water and electricity supply, gas and other fuels. They were followed by Education (6.6%) due to the increase in the different levels and types of education; and Transport (5.1%) due to increases in public transport.
On the other hand, the segment Food and drinks no Alcoholic consumption increased by 3.6% And, as every month, it was the item with the greatest impact on the Average CPIWithin this division, increases in some regions were highlighted Meats and derivatives and, in others, the increases in Vegetables, tubers and legumes.
