The union that brings together air traffic controllers announced that it will carry out two-hour strikes from this Saturday until the end of the month.
In this way, although three of the unions have reached a pre-agreement that would guarantee the continuity of the company’s operations in a normal manner, the salary conflict and the threats of closure of Aerolíneas Argentinas seems far from finished.
ATEPSA strike: the time slots affected by the measure
Through a statement, they explained that they took the measure since “the State does not allow any type of salary negotiation, imposing a single parity for the entire public sector.” The strikes will take place at the following times: next Saturday, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., on international flights; on Monday the 18th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in general and non-scheduled commercial aviation; on Wednesday the 20th, in all aviation, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and on Friday the 22nd, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., also in all aviation.
“The workers of the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA) SE, represented by ATEPSA, will adopt legitimate measures of union action starting November 16, and which will continue throughout the month,” they said in a statement.
After highlighting that “air navigation services constitute a essential public service“they advanced: “We will proceed to exercise our legitimate constitutional right to strike, respecting and guaranteeing the percentage provided for in current regulations“.
Regarding the protest measure, they specified that “it will only affect takeoffs at all airports in the country, that is, only ground authorizations.” They also added that flight plans will not be received during the hours affected by the measure.
Lastly, they clarified that emergency flights will be exempt from the force measure, such as those that provide health services, transfer of organs, humanitarian, State and/or search and rescue.
“We apologize for the delays and complications that this measure may cause, asking users to consult the service provider responsible for the corresponding publication,” they concluded.

Conflict over Aerolíneas Argentinas: the Government approached positions with the unions
After more than seven hours of negotiation, the Government reached an agreement in principle with the unions that will have to be validated by the assemblies of the respective unions but that It would guarantee for the moment the continuity of the flag company’s air services.
The basis of the dialogue was modifications in the Collective Labor Agreement and in the background the salary negotiationin which the Government offered a maximum cap of 14%while the workers demanded a 35% increase.
The pre-agreement would guarantee, on the one hand, the continuity of operations of the company in a normal manner, and on the other, put aside, for the moment, the intention to initiate the Crisis Preventive Procedure, which could lead to the downsizing and even the closure of Airlines.
