The writer of the beloved 1999 romantic comedy recently told IndieWire while promoting his new animated film Netflix, That Christmasthat Roberts wasn’t a big fan of the sequel’s script, in which her character Anna Scott divorced her character Hugh GrantWilliam Thacker.
When Curtis was asked if he would like to do any sequels to his previous films, he said: “I don’t think so. In fact, I did four Red Nose Days and Comic Relief. We did those Love Actually mini-sequels, and they satisfied me.” The screenwriter previously assembled the cast of Love Actually for a short film that benefits the annual charity event.
Curtis added: “I tried to do one with Notting Hill where they were going to get divorced, and Julia [Roberts] “He thought it was a very bad idea.”.
