The UBA recognized the Spanish essayist Daniel Innerarity Grau with an Honorary Doctorate

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) This Thursday he gave him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the renowned essayist Spanish Daniel Innerarity Grau. The event took place at the Faculty of Economic Sciences in an auditorium filled with authorities, teachers, students and students.

The delivery of the highest distinction of the institution was carried out by the vice-rector of the institution, Emiliano Yacobittiand the Dean of Economic Sciences, Ricardo Pahlen.

Prior to the delivery, the deputy and professor Fabio Quetglashighlighted the career of the Spanish professor and thanked him for his contributions to the current debates on the concepts of democracy and freedom “in an era climate hostile to nuances.”

Upon receiving the distinction, Innerariry expressed his gratitude with the UBA and spoke about “the contemporary challenge of freedom”, analyzing the idea of ​​individual and full freedom and its limits with the freedom of others. “I have dedicated my entire life to thinking about the function of politics. And politics is a defense of the freedom of others. Without freedom, everything is chaos”.

Who is Daniel Innerarity

Daniel Innerarity is a professor of political and social philosophy and doctor of Philosophy from the University of Navarra (Spain). He has a long history in the academic world.

Works as a researcher in Ikerbasque (Basque Foundation for Science), at the University of the Basque Country (Spain) and is director of the Democratic Governance Institute.

At the same time, he is the holder of the Artificial Intelligence Chair and Democracy of the European University Institute in Florence. He taught courses at various international universities, such as: the University of the Basque Country (Spain) and the European University Institute in Florence (Italy). He was also a visiting professor at various international universities, such as: the Sorbonne University (French Republic); Georgetown University (United States of America); London School of Economics and Political Science (United Kingdom), among others.
