The closing of the First Edition of the Falkland Islands Olympics was held at the Brian Toledo Sports Center in the City of Los Polvorines. A gala night in which the winners of the sports and cultural disciplines that took place since the end of August and for three months were awarded.

The event was attended by the Mayor Leo Nardiniaccompanied by the first vice president of the Buenos Aires Senate, Luis Vivona; and the Secretary of Government and Institutional Monitoring, Lic.. Maria Luján Salgadowho presented the prizes to the winning students. Received with applause and ovations from those present, Nardini declared: “What an exciting day today, a very special day for me. Today marks 9 years since I began my term as mayor and celebrating with the closing of the Olympics is something magical.”
The protagonists were surprised in the afternoon with a great snack and then entered the establishment on the red carpet. Once inside, you could see a large stage, three giant screens and a spectacular staging where the girls received their awards in an event with musical and aerial dance shows.
In his welcome speech, the mayor sent a hopeful message to the boys and girls present: “Today you are an example of values. The Olympics were made to sow values such as healthy competition, respect, camaraderie, solidarity, desire, and a healthy life. We are going to continue working for you, not only so that you are the future, but because today you are our present and so that you make Malvinas shine in everything that is going to come. Thank you for believing in me, because I believe in you.”
According to the communal chief, the Olympics project has been in the works for a few years, but only now, with a lot of effort from the government team, could it be carried out. He also let it be known that colleagues from other districts contacted him to congratulate him and with the intention of being able to do a similar project in their own districts.
During these three months of competition, more than 10,000 students from around 75 secondary schools across the district participated. The Malvinas Cup was won by Secondary Education School No. 27 in the city of Los Polvorines. This cup will remain with the winning school until the next edition and has its name engraved on a plaque. The winners also received a check as a prize for the creation of a technology classroom.
The students and teachers agreed on the importance of well-organized and quality events that allow encounters with others, commitment and also highlighted the importance of sport and culture in the lives of young people and in their training and the value of a Municipal State that bets on them with projects of this style.
