In addition to the case initiated against the former Army officer, this week, the sentence against another former First Lieutenant of the Monte 12 Battalion, located in Goya, Corrientes, was announced. After he was denounced by a subordinate of the force, the Federal Criminal Oral Court of Corrientes unanimously declared him guilty, for which he must serve a 10-year prison sentence.

The incident occurred in July 2023, when the victim was attacked by former officer Pedro Roberto Trogliero while he was sleeping in his room, located in the Officers’ Casino of that Army Battalion. According to the statement the victim gave when filing the complaint, that morning she woke up naked in her room with a man on top of her who was abusing her. The situation paralyzed her until she managed to ask him who he was.

Always according to said record, Trogliero identified himself by name, and that allowed the victim to recognize him. After kicking him out of the bedroom, the accused sent her a message inviting her to come to his room. The woman also reported that several non-commissioned officers of the military unit had previously alerted her about the accused, since he had had a conflict with another comrade of the force and had suffered an arrest for touching women in a bowling alley.

For this reason, the prosecutor in charge of the case Carlos Schaefer, and the assistant prosecutor Tamara Pourcel considered that the accused violated the rights of the victim, inasmuch as it meant for her a submission and humiliation linked to an asymmetrical relationship with the aggressor. Furthermore, he pointed out that the crime compromised “the institutions of the National State itself, which is in charge of ensuring respect for thewomen’s human rights based on all international commitments.”
