YPFYPFYPF signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the company Essential Energy SA to evaluate the feasibility of developing a biorefinery in the province of Santa Fe.

Essential owns in the north of Santa Fe a bioethanol distillery which was reactivated in 2009, after 27 years of interruption. It is a plant with Zanini technology from Brazilian origin that produces bioethanol, from sugar cane molasses, and has a projected production of 100,000 liters of anhydrous ethanol per day, which is equivalent to 30 million liters per year in 300 work days. .
