González Urrutia, 75, left Venezuela to go into exile in Spain last Septemberafter a judge issued an arrest warrant against him related to the election day of July 28. However, the opposition representative assured that he will return to the country on January 10 to take office as president.

It is worth remembering that the Venezuelan electoral authorities, controlled by the regime, They proclaimed Maduro the winner in the elections and the politician will face a third consecutive six-year term (2025-2031). However, the National Electoral Council did not publish the details of the scrutiny, while the opposition denounces fraud and claims the victory of González Urrutia after publishing the electoral records of its prosecutors.

In the midst of the conflict with Maduro, González Urrutia will travel to Argentina to meet with President Javier Milei this Saturday. The meeting, confirmed to Ámbito by official sources, will take place in Pink House.

From the beginning, the Argentine leader was forceful in his support for Urrutia in the last elections of July 28 and even accused Maduro of having committed fraud to prevail in the elections. Following Milei’s statements, the Venezuelan government expelled the Argentine diplomatic corps from Caracas and from that moment representation remained in the hands of Brazil.

The meeting will occur in the midst of the strong diplomatic conflict between Argentina and Venezuela due to the kidnapping of the Argentine gendarme, Nahuel Gallo, who was arrested by the Venezuelan authorities on December 8, 2024.
