This month, the Buenos Aires district known as the national sunflower capital will celebrate its history and tradition.

Wednesday, January 8when a municipal holiday will highlight the historical and cultural importance of a Party of the province of Buenos Aires.

This commemorative holiday will be celebrated by approximately 23,200 Buenos Aires residents, who will have a day to celebrate another year of life with a story worth remembering.

Holiday: why and where the day of rest is celebrated on Wednesday, January 8

On Wednesday, January 8, the Party of Carlos Casares will be the scene of celebrations for its founding anniversary. This town, known as the national capital of the sunflower, is the cradle of the first seed of this plant in Argentina, a fact that deeply marked its economic and cultural identity.

This Buenos Aires party was born in 1907, when lands from 9 de Julio and Pehuajó were delimited. Designed around the Carlos Casares railway station, named in honor of the governor of the province of Buenos Aires between 1875 and 1878. Although the original town was named after its founder, Antonio Maya, the party adopted the name of the station in recognition to the prominent politician.

Thanks to the most popular sport in the country, this town was recognized at the national level on several occasions, such as in 2017, when the Agropecuario Argentino club reached the Primera B Nacional.
