The Police estimate that up to 10,000 protesters from all over Germany participated in today’s protests in approximately 200 buses. The conference was scheduled for 10 in the morning (local time) and was delayed by at least 45 minutes due to difficulties in accessing the room.
A spokesman for the AfD, Bernd Baumann, described the protesters as “extremists” in statements to the Phoenix network. Center-left Chancellor Olaf Scholz is hoping for a comeback to give him victory, but so far there has been little sign of significant change in polls that show support for the Social Democrats hovering between 14 and 17%.
