Residents of Villa La Angostura They made a complaint in which they indicated that a group of tourists, in which the former first lady was Juliana Awada, They camped and started fires near the Cerro Dormilón, an area of Nahuel Huapi National Park in which such activities are prohibited.
One of the neighbors who reported the crime told the local media Andean Diary As he and other young people were walking through the area when they saw a group of people camping and making fire in a prohibited area.
“We went up to the top of the hill and when we were going down, We see a bonfire between the lenga forest and a tongue of ash. “It was clearly fire.”said the witness.
“That was around 10:15 p.m. and The fire was considerably large. We use binoculars to verify its size and exact location,” added another of the young people who witnessed the event.
Then, they explained how they tried to get the attention of the subjects who were at fault. “We began to shine our flashlights on them and signaled to them. We also use the rescue whistle from the trekking backpack. Fortunately, minutes later, the offenders put out the stove.”
However, they decided to go further and alert the local authorities: “The first thing we did was send a WhatsApp message to two park rangers and one of them acknowledged that he had already received another complaint about stoves in Dormilón that same day.”
In turn, in addition to warning the park rangers, the young people returned a few hours later to see how the place was. “At 1 a.m. on Sunday, we decided to return to the sighting site to make sure the fire was still out.and so it was.”
The next day, in the morning, one of the witnesses decided to visualize the area where they had seen the bonfire the night before from a nearby hill: “With daylight I could clearly see two tents, one blue and one aqua green, located in exactly the same place where we had seen the fire the night before.“.
The unusual justification of the offenders
Later, witnesses encountered the offenders walking near the Cerro Dormilón shelter. “There was a blonde woman, another brunette, one with dark hair and two men, one with a hat and the other with gray hair. We asked them if they had slept in the shelter, and they said no. When we insisted, they said they had slept ‘under a tree‘” he recalled.
Then, they explained to the group the seriousness of what happened the previous day. “We told them that we had seen them camping and making fires, that we had already reported it to National Parks, and that what they were doing was illegal due to the risk of fires at this time of year.. The response was surprising. “They tried to avoid eye contact and seemed uncomfortable.”
It was there when one of the campers, who claimed to have a house in Machete Country Club, acknowledged the mistake but without ceasing justify: “It’s true, it’s wrong, but rest assured that we leave everything impeccable. We always see fires on the shore of the lake and We notify Parks, but they do nothing“.
“The man even tried to justify Parks’ inaction by saying that they did not control the two-stroke engines of the boats, which had nothing to do with what we were asking him,” added the witness.
Once the exchange was over, the young people began to search on social networks and recognized two of those involved: “We identified Carola del Bianco and ‘Paquito‘ Mayorga, who have a house in the Machete Country Club.”
In addition, they noted that Juliana Awada would have been part of the group of offenders, since days ago she had published photos on her Instagram account where she appears with her friends on Cerro Dormilón and “In one of the photos you can clearly see the place where the bonfire was made, with embers covered by sand.”
