Argentina unified the Embassy in Uruguay with the representation before Mercosur and Aladi

This measure will allow “optimizing resources and generating significant savings for the Foreign Ministry and the Argentine Republic”, They pointed out from the diplomatic portfolio of the neighboring country, from where they estimate an annual savings close to 2,000 million Argentine pesos.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry indicated that it has already notified the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRREE) who leads Omar Paganini and explained that, after the formal procedures and obtaining the style approval, they will announce the new ambassador.

The departure of the Argentine ambassador in Uruguay

The Milei government’s disposition arises after it was reported this Wednesday that García Moritán would leave his position as ambassador in the country in March, after the inauguration of Yamandu Orsi.

The Argentine ambassador will turn 70 on March 12, so the Foreign Service Law establishes that, from that age, they retire and become part of the Passive Corps of the Foreign Service.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry expressed “special recognition” to García Moritán, whom it recognized “for his dedication and commitment,” while highlighting that he had “a distinguished career in the Foreign Service of the Nation,” since he joined the diplomatic portfolio of the neighboring country in 1983, while between 2016 and 2020, during the government of Mauritius Macriwas permanent representative before the UN.
