“The Caste is the other”. This enemyit is in its different customs. Friend, instead, is “people like one”: Us. It is not clear who the “we” are, he only described the we as: “We are morally superior, and we are aesthetically superior, we are better at everything.”.
The “we”, politically-theologically, is like: “I am who I am”… we have no name, but we are the ones who have a house, work, money… and, it is clear that “the other” is the one whom “the we” give it a name (blacks, left-handed, kukas, etc.). Below we will see many adjectives preceded by proper names…
“THE OTHER”
What follows are some of the humiliations that Milei has chosen with their corresponding recipients until mid-2022: He said to Martín Kulfas “you piece of shit, why don’t you study, hdp”, to Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, “left-handed shit, I’ll crush you, you shit, crawling worm, disgusting piece of shit”, to Axel Kicillof, “diabolical dwarf” , Mauricio Macri, “asshole”; and to his economic cabinet, “tower of manure, piece of shit”, to Martín Guzmán, “useless, do not say a gourd, liar hdp and c. from your mother”, to Joseph Stiglitz, “asshole”, to the deputy Gladys González, “why don’t you go to c. of your mother”, to the deputy Gabriela Estévez, “hdp, the c. from your mother, piece of shit”, to Wado de Pedro, “sorete”, to Gerardo Morales, “parasite of shit, the c. from your mother, jet hdp”, to Fernando Iglesias, “stupid, silly, piece of asshole, you play the fool, the c. from your mother, stupid, idiot”, to Leandro Santoro, “jet and donkey”, to the legislator Daniel Lipovetsky, “bloodsucking parasite”. (Profile, 11-17-2022). “What he says and how he says it not only talks about him, it talks especially about a hatred that crosses different social classes and the way in which that hatred is expressed (Ibid, Gustavo González, Perfil).
METEMPSYCHOSIS
Duran Barba also installed a “enemy”, with the help of the journalist Lanata and countless pseudo-journalists through repeaters, from Macrismo, throughout the country, for more than 15 years. Paradoxically, the use of Carl Schmitt’s theoretical framework (friend/enemy) was attributed exclusively to Cristina Kirchner.
Following Laclau, Milei also metamorphosed the Laclauian equivalent chain that pronounces popular demands and, objects of vindication, where all the antagonisms can be expressed. In that context she metamorphosed everything. The “haters or haters” (not the town) would be located in the empty signifierwhich would try to give new meaning to the “anti-Peronist groups”, “anti-Kirchnerists”, “anti-socialists”, “anti-communists”, “anti-democrats”, “expressions of low political density”, “low democratic rigor”, “disappointed Macristas ”, “authoritarian”, “violent” and “anti-system” in general. His project looks “pre-Constitutional”, because it is clearly anarchic. Milei wants to be a floating signifier, which as a discursive element fixes the meaning of an equivalential chain that accounts for a political struggle that tries to hegemonize a discursive political space. A hoax of rude transcription.
very brief HISTORY
The term populism was an insult, which made mention of those political parties or movements made up of idiotic people. Defining a political current by its imbecility in a democracy, where pluralism and tolerance reign, seems strange to us, says Chantal Delsol. In the designation of “populism” there is a rejection of democracy. It is an insult rather than a noun. (Delsol Chantal, “Populisme, Les demeures de l’Histoire”, 2015)
The bad reputation of Populism is very European, mainly because there is a confusion with the deformation of democracy, which, according to what we learned in Democratic Education at the secondary level, becomes “demagogy.” Populism is not demagogy. They are different things.
DEMAGOGY
A demagogic discourse is spoken in a campaign using communication skills, to give an audience what they want to hear, with the goal of winning votes. Things are said, just to please people, because promises will not be fulfilled.
Demagogy is a practice of deliberate manipulation of those who appear honest or pure in order to achieve aid, publicly expressing their doctrines and their feelings using pleasant explanations for those who are listening, but in reality they are manipulating their feelings and emotions with entanglements and falsehoods. A form of demagoguery is when an individual exalts himself to captivate admiration (“I am the lion, I am the king of a lost world…”, La Renga). Abraham Lincoln said: “Demagogy is the ability to dress minor ideas with major words..
The demagogue, fan those passions in the town. He is a “listen” sycophant, he opposes emotions and primary interests to social interests.
BECAUSE IT IS NOT POPULAR
Because populism is more than 120 years old, when it was not an insult, but a political party in the US and Russia.
Just as the Russian people opposed Lenin, because they clung to their land and their traditions, the popular component today opposes the hegemonic ideology, or the globalization of markets. The elite that looks at these phenomena in the world, responds with contempt, describes the individual as an idiot in Europe, in the US as well, although in private, American intellectuals are ashamed of Donald Trump.
POPULIST TYRANTS The first populists were “the tyrants” who seized power in the Greek cities (7th and 6th century BC). The Greek tyrant maintained an enthusiastic and unhealthy complicity with the crowd. The crowd brought him to power, because he said what they wanted, and the crowd applauded him. From there, that certain cities that were governed by oligarchies (sim. The Caste), where the oligarchs took an oath, upon assuming office, recited the frightful: “I will be the adversary of the people, and I will do the Council all the damage I can” (Gustave Glotz, La cite grecque). Through “La Casta”, generalizing, politicians are presented as an oligarchy, and yes, it is controversial, seeing repeated surnames in positions, through many decades.
But in those days, it was not surprising, that it was the case that some adventurers, good speakers, harangued crowds and promised them better luck. These emerging subjects of the people themselves were, for example: Ortágoras de Sición, son of a butcher, Denis de Syracuse, son of a muleteer, who seized power taking advantage of the food crises, the importance of which they exaggerated to base their legitimacy on this. Aristotle wrote “demagogues have gained the confidence of the people, criticizing the notables” (La Politics).
Lastly, whether Milei is sincere or using hate as a mere means, it is necessary to ask questions in front of a man who predicted countless calamities that never happenedand now promises foolish reforms with extraordinary resultssurrounded by people without anything in particular, seeking help from the most memorable bandit of the supposed “Casta”.
