The director of the Taganka Theater, Irina Apeksimova, appointed Yuri Muravitsky as the chief director of the institution. On Wednesday, December 29, Izvestia was informed about this at the theater.
“The appointment of Yuri Muravitsky to the new position of the Taganka Theater as chief director is intended to support the development of the creative program of the reunited troupe of the legendary theater,” the official website of the Moscow Mayor said.
Muravitsky, in turn, expressed the hope that cooperation on an ongoing basis will allow the theater to achieve good creative results.
On October 8, it became known about the reunification of the Taganka Theater and the “Commonwealth of Taganka Actors” theater. As the press service of the institution explained then, now legally there are two theaters and each has its own repertoire.
In December last year, Apeksimova was appointed director of the theater “Commonwealth of Taganka Actors”. Since 2015, she has served as director of the Moscow State Drama and Comedy Theater on Taganka.
In 1984, Yuri Lyubimov, who became the chief director of the theater, went abroad, and Anatoly Efros took his place. Five years later, Lyubimov returned, but a split occurred in the troupe. Then the breakaway part of it founded the “Commonwealth of Taganka Actors”.
