The Government modified the current budget: to which ministries did it readjust the allocations?

The government has reallocated funds to new sectors to cover wage increases, capital expenditure, regularisation of expenses and an increase in the budget for the health system.

Through the Administrative Decision 858/2024 Published this Monday in the Official Gazette, the Government modified the Current budget and re-adjusted new items to certain sectors. The change was signed by Luis Caputo and the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers, Guillermo Francos.

According to the document, “it is necessary to adjust the current budget of various jurisdictions and entities of the NATIONAL PUBLIC SECTOR, in order to address unavoidable expenses for their normal operation.”

Budget: what will the new funds be used for?

  • Strengthening of personnel expenditure credits due to salary increases.
  • Reinforcement of operating and equipment expenses for jurisdictions and entities of the National Administration.
  • The budget of the Chief of Staff due to the transfer of an agent from INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Census), the body that operates within the scope of the Ministry of Economy.
  • The credits destined to capital expenses are offset in order to meet the execution of the activities of an IDB Loan No. 5735/OC-AR – “Cybersecurity Program for Critical Information Infrastructures (ICI)”.
  • Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Sports: higher expenses in the External Loan and Transfer Execution Units (UEPEX).

  • National Directorate of Migration: capital expenditure.
  • Ministry of Security: to meet staff costs related to the provision of social security services, in relation to the Argentine Federal Police (PFA). In addition, the current credits of the National Gendarmerie are increased in order to cover costs related to the provision of additional security services.
  • Ministry of Defense: regularization of advance payments to suppliers made in 2022 and 2023. In addition, the Navy’s budget is expanded to comply with the commitments made within the framework of the incorporation of P-3C Orion aircraft in order to improve the capacity of maritime surveillance and exploration of the air and sea. Finally, in order to address the adaptations of the infrastructure to operate and maintain the Multirole Fighter aircraft, the Air Force’s budget is reinforced.
  • INDEC: The budget is strengthened to address needs related to the tasks of collecting and managing statistical information.
  • Ministry of Health: The budget for the “Doctor Baldomero Sommer” National Hospital is being increased. Subsidies for Social Assistance to Individuals and Family Allowances for the care and support of people with problematic substance use are also being strengthened.
