CAEM repudiated “the attack suffered” by the Argentine Rural Society (SRA) and expressed its “solidarity with said entity.”
In turn, mining companies rejected “all expressions of violence, understanding that these mark a path far from the ideals of peace and democracy that we as Argentines have chosen for our country.”
For its part, CAPMIN also expressed solidarity with the SRA and stated in the statement that “When events of this regrettable nature occur, we emphatically repudiate any act of aggression or violence that puts people, spaces or institutions at risk, violating the precepts of a peaceful, free and democratic country.”
How did the attack on the Rural Society happen?
To the president of the Rural Society, Nicholas Pinoa package containing explosives was sent to his office in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo. His secretary opened one and suffered facial injuries. Personnel from the Explosives Brigade of the City Police went to the SRA building, located at Juncal 4,450 and Frey Santa María.
Three other people were treated by SAME and taken to the Fernández hospital. According to reports, one of the packages, which was opened, was intended for the president of the SRA, Nicolás Pino, while the other was for the vice president of the entity, Marcos Pereda.
The second package was never opened and was seized by the Bomb Squad.
Who is being investigated for the attack on the Rural Society?
The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrichdetailed the first hypotheses that they are handling in the Government about the attack. The minister assured that they are investigating “vegan or anarchist extremist groups” for what happened.
Regarding the investigation, Bullrich explained: “The city of Buenos Aires is in the investigative part. We are in the analysis part of the action, framed in a anti-terrorist strategy that we have in the country.”
