The sequel to Gladiator hits theaters 24 years after the premiere of the film starring Russell Crowe.
Gladiator 2 will be released in theaters on November 14.
Ridley Scott is reviving its franchise Gladiator after 24 years with the next film Gladiator IIand it looks like that may be the end of the road for their epic story.
Speaking to French magazine Première, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker confirmed that he is already developing the idea for a third “Gladiator” film.
“I’m already toying with the idea of Gladiator 3. No, seriously! What is Gladiator 2 about?
Gladiator II stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and nephew of Commodus, the antagonist of the original film played by Joaquin Phoenix.
The story begins years later, when Lucius is already living in the region of Numidia in North Africa, where he was sent by his mother as a child, as it was out of reach of the Roman Empire. Events lead Lucius back to Rome as a gladiator, where he makes new enemies and reunites with his mother. Denzel Washington plays Macrinus, a rich and powerful Roman stockbroker who keeps a group of gladiators for sport. The cast also includes Peter Pascal and Joseph Quinn.
