The Argentine justice system has requested the immediate arrest of Nicolás Maduro and Diosdado Cabello

“It was proven that there exists in Venezuela a systematic plan of repression, forced disappearance of persons, torture, homicides and persecution against a portion of the civilian population, developed –at least– from 2014 to the present,” states the ruling of Chamber I of the Federal Court of Buenos Aires.

The Justice reached this decision after unify all the cases filed in the Comodoro Py 2002 courts against Maduro and after having listened to a group of victims who had taken refuge in Argentina, who recounted experiences of torture.

“We note that the testimonies They eloquently reflect the experiences endured by the victims -which seem to exhibit a common pattern in state actions-, and are reflected in the different reports of the international organizations that specifically expose the controversial characteristics of the Venezuelan rule of lawthe persecution – kidnappings, torture, murders – of the civilian population and the lack of interest in conforming to democratic rules,” the court ruling adds.

In this way, the judges Pablo Bertuzzi, Leopoldo Bruglia and Mariano Llorens They pointed out that “in consideration of the seriousness and significance of the events, but especially that they are reported as having been carried out by the very structure of the Venezuelan Stateand which would continue to be perpetrated to this day, in order to avoid obstruction in the investigation, put an end to the continuation of the criminal plot and In order to prevent future victims from suffering irreparable violations of human rights, it is necessary to order the immediate arrest -via Interpol- of Nicolás Maduro Moros and Diosdado Cabello, for the purposes of extradition to this Argentine Republic”.

In turn, Sebastian Ramosthe judge in charge of the investigation, will have to continue receiving “Testimonial statements from those victims who have appeared before the court”.
