Sergio Ziliotto highlighted that La Pampa is the only province without debt and complained to the Nation for co-participation

The governor of La Pampa, Sergio Ziliotto, highlighted that that province “is the only one with zero debt” in the Argentina, recalled the “illegal withdrawal of co-participation” by the Nation and questioned the economic model of Xavier Milei when considering that “continues to benefit large oil and mining corporations.”

When inaugurating the 98th Agricultural, Livestock, Industrial, Commercial and Services Exhibition of Santa Rosa, Ziliotto denounced that the province is suffering “a sharp drop in economic activity” so far this year, as a result of the economic measures of the Nation, whom he also pointed out for “the illegal removal of co-shareable resources”.

The president stated that both the recession and the retention of Pampas resources have a full impact on the local ecosystem and translate into a drop in registered private employment and a decrease in income. “The unemployment rate grew to 7.8% and in the first seven months of 2024 inflation reached 88.5% in La Pampa, while public resources only increased by 40.7%,” he warned.

The governor blamed the Milei government for the “negative consequences” that the productive sector suffers, and the countryside especially. “Anarchic deregulation of the economy, high levels of inflation, sharp increases in energy and fuels, marked distortion of relative prices and more concentration, led to a scenario of increased prices for production processes,” he said.

Sergio Ziliotto: ““We are the only Province with zero debt.”

“Despite everything we maintained order, balance and fiscal efficiency. We are the only Province with zero debt. Inalienable attributes that continue to distinguish us in the national context. This order and efficiency allowed us to maintain the provision of basic services unchanged. “We continue to invest heavily in public Health and Education, to alleviate both the inflationary process and the greater demand in the face of the evident decline of the private sector,” he expressed.

Ziliotto stated that, currently, Argentina “it’s expensive in dollars.” As a consequence, the local companies “lost competitiveness before the world”. In turn, he pointed out that To the “domestic” phenomenon was added “another one of international origin: the fall in international prices of the top 10 exported products. The drop of 40% for wheat, 33% for beef and 52% for honey attests to this.”

“If the current situation is not optimal, the project numbers National Budget for next year they generate more uncertainty and pessimism. In a marked increase in tax pressure in terms of the Gross Domestic Productthis project ratifies the current course: more economic concentration, more extractivism, less foreign exchange for growth and fewer advantages for those who produce,” he said and denounced that it is a economic model “that continues to benefit large oil and mining corporationsabove the protection of agricultural and industrial production”.

In any case, despite the national context, the man from Pampa assured that the provincial Executive will continue to support the productive sector started four years ago. Along these lines, he reaffirmed the validity of the “incentive plan for private investments” which, he said, aims “reduce the provincial tax burden on productive activity.”

Furthermore, he explained that, in the case of the agricultural sector, “the same rates of gross income have been in effect for more than ten years.” And he stressed that “added to this is the sharp drop in the incidence of the rural real estate tax in terms of the purchasing power of producers. Since 2019 this tax has increased by 832%, while in the same period the prices of what is mostly produced by the field grew between 2,239% and 3,019%”.
