The UCA warned that Argentines’ concern about poverty and unemployment is growing

A report of the Argentine Catholic University (UCA) He assured that among the Argentines Concern about inflation began to decrease, but uncertainty about poverty began to increase.

This is the Economic Uncertainty Index carried out by the Center for Economic and Business Analytics of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the UCA, directed by Daniel Aromí.

This indicator summarizes the economic opinions transmitted by comments on Argentine channels on the YouTube platform.

In September, the UCA Economic Uncertainty Index registered a new drop that places it at values similar to what was observed, on average, during the year 2021.

This drop is largely explained by a decrease in concern about economic instability, inflation and the dollar.

In contrast, poverty-related concerns continued to rise steadily throughout the year.

The Index in the month of September was 57.6, that is, on average, for every 10,000 words in economic messages, 57.6 words linked to uncertainty were detected.

The last measurement is the lowest value in the last 20 months.

“Thanks to its persistent fall, in September the index is similar to what was observed, on average, during 2021. Additionally, as a result of the persistent fall, the value of the index in September is 36% lower than the historical record of the series observed in November 2023,” indicated the UCA.

Despite the decline, the level of uncertainty remains very high. For example, current values exceed what was observed at the most severe moment of the currency crisis in 2018.

Throughout the year, references to inflation or the dollar (economic instability) persistently fell, but poverty references grew and in September they represented 29.4%.

Similarly, throughout the year, there is an increase in concerns regarding labor issues.
