PAMI will have a new benefit to access cancer medications and expensive treatments

PAMI and the Ministry of Health launch a new way to request special and high-need medications.

He Comprehensive Medical Care Program (PAMI)the entity in charge of guaranteeing medical coverage and treatment for retirees, pensioners, and other ANSES beneficiaries. They recently concluded an agreement with the Ministry of Health that will facilitate access to medicines for a crucial group.

With the aim of expediting access and distribution of medicines to one of the most vulnerable groups of beneficiaries, both entities will provide a significant discount on oncological remediesspecial or high-cost treatments.

PAMI: the key data of the agreement

To improve access and efficiency in the acquisition of medicines, a new cooperation mechanism will be established that will allow the circulation of drugs that were previously acquired through the Directorate of Direct Assistance for Special Situations (DADSE). With this change, it is estimated a average savings of 50% in the cost of medications, which not only represents an economic benefit, but also an improvement in the associated administrative processes.

To ensure the financing of this agreement, the Ministry of Health will transfer the necessary items following a scheme similar to that of the strategic fund of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). This agreement will cover a list of 64 drug presentationsand the purchasing process will be complemented with public tenders that the Ministry will carry out, both within the framework of the DADSE and the National Bank of Special Drugs.
