You have grandmother’s ornaments left and you have no idea how to clean them? Follow this guide and leave them like new.

In many old houses that were built hundreds of years ago, various ornaments embedded in the furniture and doors are made of bronze. There are even families that, through inheritance, still preserve tableware and memories of your ancestors made of this metal that was popular in the past, but can be difficult to clean.

Being a composite metal, and the time exposed to light and hands in a home, tends to get stained and damaged with the passing of the years. Although there are still specific cleaners that are ideal for cleaning bronze, here are four homemade cleaning tricks with easy-to-obtain elements to achieve the same result.

Cleaning tricks for your bronze pieces

White wine

Mulled white wine is an excellent option that allows you to clean the brass almost instantly. You can use the cheapest one you can find, the important thing is that it has chemicals that clean the bronze quickly. I immersed the object in the hot white wine for a few minutes and that was it.

Vinegar, water and salt

Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a container large enough to hold the brass piece you want to clean. Let it soak overnight. If you have several pieces, move them from time to time to make sure that the vinegar and salt reach all the parts. At the end, rinse and dry to shine.

Use baking soda and lemon

Mix baking soda with lemon and warm water. Then, with a spray bottle, spray the object. Then, wipe away the dirt with a microfiber cloth.

Lemon, vinegar, ammonia and water

It is the most intense option and, in most cases, gives excellent results. If the previous natural and artificial measures do not work, you can resort to the latter. I submerged the object in a mixture of lemon, vinegar, ammonia and water for about 5 minutes. Then, dry with a dry cloth to remove excess liquid and wait a few minutes to see the change in the piece.
