United States: with a presence in the Senate, Republicans are fighting for the House of Representatives

Republicans hope for a victory in the House of Representatives. With both chambers, the party elected in the presidential elections could have full control of Congress, the White House and execute Donald Trump’s agenda.

All House seats, which before the election were controlled by Republicans, are now up for grabs. A party needs 218 seats to have a majority. According to a latest vote count, Republicans have 207 while Democrats have 189. This left the majority in the House hanging by a thread this Wednesday, between a Republican control that would unify the Republican Party in Washington, or pass into the hands of the Democrats as a resistance to Donald Trump’s second term.

A few seats, or Even just one will determine the outcome. Final counts will take a while, likely extending decision until next week.

Republicans secured control of the Senate in the battle for the majority in Congress

Along with this Tuesday’s electoral battle, another battle was fought for the majority in Congress. With the provisional count, it was confirmed that the Republicans would have control of the Senate and a lead in the House of Representatives, although several races are still undecided.

Trump’s advantage in the upper house had as a springboard the victory in the state of Nebraska. The current Republican senator Deb Fischer managed to repel a surprisingly strong challenge from independent candidate Dan Osborn.
