The event happened over the weekend on the coast of that town. Upon discovering it, the owner of the vehicle alerted the Municipality through WhatsApp “Eyes on Alert”, which activated the rapid arrival of a mobile phone that ended up arresting the criminals.
A man left his truck in the care of two rags on 600 Sebastián Elcano Street, in the coastal area of the town of Acassuso. Shortly after, he remembered that he had not locked the vehicle and upon returning he discovered one of the car attendants inside the vehicle checking his belongings. He immediately reported it through “Ojos en Alerta” and the assailants ended up detained by the Patrol of the Municipality of San Isidro.

“I’m in Sebastián Elcano at 600, I parked on the street and two little rags approached me, they charged me for parking and when I was walking away I remembered that I hadn’t locked the car and when I look out to lock it, I see one stuck in my car, looking that I had. He is a skinny guy with ripped jeans, a cap and a vest. If they can send someone,” he reported by audio to the Ojos en Alerta WhatsApp chat that is directly connected to the Municipal Operations Center (COM).
When the cell phone arrived, the municipal officers found the man and his accomplice inside the car, detained them and took them to the 4th Police Station in San Isidro.
“Eyes on Alert” is the direct communication program between neighbors and the COM to send, through WhatsApp, text and/or voice messages, photos, videos and location in real time, in the event of any eventuality that requires the intervention of the security force, the health area or municipal assistance. Since it was implemented in July, some 5,000 residents have already been trained and more than 400 alerts have been generated that led to 20 arrests.
The Municipality also has 1,293 cameras distributed throughout all the locations in the district, 46 motorcycles and 90 mobile phones – armored with GPS and all connected to the COM – that patrol the streets of the district 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Patrol tasks increased this year thanks to the incorporation of a new body of Prevention Agents on Public Roads. Since the beginning of the year, more than 80 new street agents joined the Municipal Patrol, driving the patrol cars and operating the COM. In addition, a new police base was inaugurated with 80 officers assigned to popular neighborhoods and 16 patrol cars were delivered to police stations throughout the district.
