The situation of the automotive industry shows contrasting realities. While some terminals face a complicated manufacturing scenario due to the decline in activity, others are on a path of expansion.
There are three manufacturers that will increase the production starting in the next few months. one is toyotaat the Zárate plant; another is Peugeotin El Palomar and the third is fordin General Pacheco.
The information that auto parts manufacturers have is that Toyota plans to increase production after the upcoming holiday break or, more precisely, starting next March 31.
Although the company did not officially report on the issue, the increase in production would be around 7%, about 12,000 units. This would lead it to recover the volume lost this year.
On the other hand, Ford confirmed that it will increase production in 2025 by 15%.
In the case of Peugeot, it expects to end the year with 72,224 units produced, while for 2025 the projected for the 12 months is 78,958. This implies a global growth of 9% in production. It is always good to clarify that these plans are reviewed periodically and may change, but this is what that terminal has planned today.
The reasons have to do with the recovery of the domestic market and the need to meet greater export demand.
But before the implementation of the new production plans, two of these automakers are reinforcing activity through other mechanisms.
For different reasons (many have to do with the unstable supply of imported parts), in recent months they lost days of production and are seeking to compensate them.
That is why so much Toyota and Peugeot are scheduled to work normally next holiday Monday. Toyota will also work tomorrow, Saturday, but to return “credit hours.” These are hours that were licensed due to production stops and that were paid and must now be compensated.
In the case of the Japanese brand, it has been working in three shifts due to the high demand for the Hilux pickup. Logistical problems (the issue of lack of freight affects all terminals) caused some ships with auto parts to be delayed and hours of production were lost. This would explain the need to produce on holidays.
The automaker also plans to make a three-week technical stoppage in July next year to carry out some reforms on the production line to adapt it to the new Hilux project.
In the case of Peugeot, with the launch of the new national 2008, added to the manufacturing of the 208, the plant has been working at a high pace.
Due to some problems, production volume was lost and is being recovered with the extension of the two manufacturing shifts. In factin recent days they have been working until midnight, instead of doing it until 10 p.m.
The increase in production that the automaker has for next year is sustained at a Greater volume of the 2008 SUV.
In some dealerships they explain that they are having shortages of this model for conventional sales, since the available units are allocated to the savings plan due to the high level of subscriptions.
It is likely that this need to work on the holiday and increase production has to do with the objective of normalizing this supply.
