Shock in Ecuador: violent kidnapping of a former national team player

The Ecuadorian player Pedro Pablo Perlazafrom the Delfín club, was kidnapped in the last few hours in the city of Esmeraldas, in circumstances that are still being investigated, with the National Police being one of the main suspects.

According to the defender’s own family, he was intercepted on the street by a person riding a motorcycle, and was forced to get into a vehicle in which he was taken to an unknown location.

Given the commotion of the news, the Ecuadorian National Police issued a statement from its official X account in which it claims to be aware of the “alleged involuntary disappearance” of a subject named “Pedro P.”, in addition to “Juan M.” . The publication states that the police force immediately began investigative and operational work surrounding the incident.

The last time Perlaza was seen was on Sunday, in a parish, with a friend. The next day, his family filed a complaint.

One of his brothers declared to the press that around 4 p.m. on Sunday he was seen with his mother and other relatives, but then he said that he was going home to rest, “since then we haven’t heard anything about him.”

This case joins other kidnappings that have occurred in recent weeks in the country presided over by Daniel Noboa, who declared a state of emergency in the month of October and has extended it for another 30 days.

Furthermore, in the last few hours the Ecuadorian security force issued a new statement, in which it reported having freed the victim of a kidnapping similar to the one suffered by Perlaza, although the name of the freed person was not communicated.
