Advertising Day in Argentina: why it is celebrated every December 4

He December 4th is celebrated as Advertising Day in the Argentine Republic.. The date serves to value the work of those who carry out important communication and interaction efforts between companies and the public or clients. It was chosen to remember the Advertising Congress that took place on December 4, 1936 in Buenos Aires.

This conference aimed to teach the subject in Argentina. The anniversary was convened and proposed by the former Association of Propaganda Chiefs and since then Advertising Day or Advertiser’s Day has been celebrated every December 4 in the Argentine Republic.

When we talk about advertising we are referring to a communication tool that attempts to increase the consumption of a product or service, insert it into the consumer market and improve its image in the consumer universe. These objectives are achieved through campaigns that are disseminated in the media following a pre-established plan.

With the advancement of technology and social networks, advertising has also been able to adapt. Before it was used more frequently on radio, television and newspapers, but currently we can find it absolutely everywhere on the Internet. Websites, streaming platforms, music, movies and even entertainment.

Different types of advertising

There are different ways to advertise and for different objectives.

  • Institutional: It stands out for highlighting the positive aspects of different companies.
  • Non-profit: are those advertisements carried out by foundations, non-profit associations or charitable entities to publicize their actions or stimulate citizen participation in them.
  • Public good campaigns: do not seek sales but rather provide a positive message to society. For example, those that seek to raise awareness about gender violence or road safety education.
