Food inflation: they estimate that there was deflation in the second week of December after a strong previous rebound

The average monthly increase was 2.5% and in the end-to-end measurement at 2.3% during the last four weeks, according to the measurement of Labor Capital & Growth.

The food and drink inflation showed his first deflation in two monthswhen going down 0.3%as measured by Labor Capital & Growth (LCG). The average monthly increase was located at 2.5% and in the end-to-end measurement in 23% of the last four weeks. So far this month there has been a variation of 0.7%.

The deflation of the food and drinks was explained by the increase in sugar, honey, sweets and cocoa (+3.9%), meats (+2%), oils (+1%) and takeaway meals (+0.5%). Meanwhile, the losses of the baking products, cereals and pasta (-0.2%), condiments and others food products (-0.3%), fruit (-0.3%), vegetable (-0.5%), dairy products and eggs (-2.8%), drinks and infusions to consume at home (-4%)

This survey is carried out through web scraping on Wednesdays, with information on 8,000 foods and drinks from five supermarkets. The weights correspond to the structure of the Consumer Price Index of the City of Buenos Aires.

In that sense, the CABA inflation remained in 3.2% in November and accumulated a 129.1% in 2024, according to the Institute of Statistics and Censuses (IDECBA). The year-on-year rate slowed to 177.4%. The Food and non-alcoholic beverages averaged an increase of 1.7%.
