The province of Buenos Aires defined the new values for fines for traffic violations that will begin to govern since January 1 of 2025, with a 4.6% increase. The measure was made official in the Official Gazette through the Resolution 320/2024signed by the then Minister of Transportation, Jorge D’Onofrio.
The management of said state official concluded wrapped in complaints linked to alleged cases of corruption related to photo fines and Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV).
The new increase affects the value of the Fixed Unit (UF), basis for calculating fines, which goes from $1,336 to $1,398. This amount is updated depending on the price of a liter of gasoline higher octane reported by the Argentine Automobile Club (ACA) at its headquarters in The Silver.
Based on this adjustment, the provincial government seeks to adapt the values of the infractions to the 1.75% increase in fuelsscheduled for January 3. That is why the measure that increases the price of fines became official as soon as the new year began.

It is also essential to have safety elements such as seat belts, beacons, fire extinguisher and helmet approved in the case of motorcyclists.
Furthermore, it is mandatory respect traffic conditionssuch as having low beams on on routes and highways, not exceeding the vehicle’s occupant capacity and ensuring that children under 10 years of age travel in appropriate safety seats in the back seat.
He Voluntary payment of fines within the established period offers a 50% reduction on the minimum value of the violation. In the case of automatic minutes, the expiration date is printed on the document; For manual minutes, the period is 30 business days.
On the other hand, non-payment entails serious consequences and unpaid fines accumulate interestincreasing its initial cost. Additionally, the driver may face license retention, the inability to renew it, and administrative blocks related to the vehicle. In extreme cases, legal action may be taken for collection.
The adjustment in fines comes in the midst of a climate of distrust towards the outgoing management of the Ministry of Transportationparticularly due to accusations of irregularities in the photomulta systems and VTV. These cases, currently under investigationraised questions about transparency in the application of sanctions.
Beyond updating values, the provincial authorities insist on the importance of complying with traffic rules. Driving responsibly not only avoids penalties, but also reduces the risk of accidents and contributes to road safety on Buenos Aires routes.
The increase in fines, combined with awareness campaigns, seeks to encourage a general change in driving habitsreinforcing security on the streets and routes of the province in 2025.
