The used motorcycle market closed the year with a growth of 9% year-on-year. A Japanese brand largely dominated.
The ACARA Motorcycle Division (Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic) reported that during December 2024, 42,927 motor vehicle transfersmarking a year-on-year increase in 19% compared to the same month of the previous year, when 35,972 operations were recorded. However, compared to November 2024, there was a slight drop in 0.3%since in that month 43,042 units were reached.
In annual terms, the used motorcycle market closed 2024 with 483,706 transfersa 9% increase in front of the 444,481 units registered in 2023.
Market analysis by brands and models
Sling comfortably led the used motorcycle segment, consolidating the 33% of operations. In a distant second place was yamaha with a 11%followed by Motomel (8%) and Zanella (7%). Corvenwith a 6%closed the top five, but followed very closely by Bajaj and Gileraboth with a 5%showing possibilities of recovering positions in the ranking in the coming months.
Regarding the most transferred models, Sling He reaffirmed his dominance with the Honda Wave 110 Swhich accumulated 2,354 units transferred in December. This was followed by:
- Gilera Smashwith 1,364 units.
- Honda XR 150Lwhich reached 1,318 transfers.
- Honda XR250 Tornadowith 1,269 unitsmoving up positions in the ranking.
- Corven Energy 110 by Corvenwith 1,129 unitscompleted the top five.
Market outlook
The used motorcycle sector shows signs of dynamism, driven by accessibility and consumer preference for consolidated models in the market.
Honda continues to be the preferred brand, both for its reliability and the popularity of its models throughout the country. Despite small adjustments in the level of monthly activity, the year-on-year growth reaffirms the good performance of the segment in 2024, setting optimistic expectations for 2025.
