What is the ENRE requirement for companies?

The Government carries out this call within the framework of a tariff update process. This procedure, known as Five-Year Tariff Review (RQT), It will establish the service quality parameters for the coming years, the sanctions for non-compliance, the investment plans, and the income that companies will receive to carry them out.

In the first weeks of January, the ENRE published resolution 3/2025, where he defined the criteria that will govern the improvements required of distributors in exchange for recognizing rate increases, especially in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), where 40% of the country’s electricity consumption is concentrated.

In areas of the Buenos Aires suburbs and the City of Buenos Aires, considered to have the lowest quality of service, stricter requirements will be implemented. According to official documents, the objective is to reduce by up to 50% both the frequency and duration of supply outages that users face each semester.

After the rate delay registered during the administration of Alberto Fernández, distributors managed to recover part of their income. In February 2024, companies saw an average increase of 300% in rates, followed by monthly adjustments starting in August to keep up with inflation. This increase far exceeded the 117.8% accumulated inflation in 2023.

The new tariff tables will take effect from April 1 and will be published on March 31. According to the ENRE schedule, Edesur and Edenor must present their proposals for the RQT before January 27. One day later, on January 28, the call for a public hearing will be made official, scheduled for February 27, which will take place virtually.
