The Metallurgical activity recorded in January a monthly increase of 1.2%but the fall in strategic sectors continues, the Association of Metallurgical Industrials of the Argentine Republic (Adimra) reported today.
During January 2025, the metallurgical activity registered an interannual variation of 2.6% and a 1.2% increase compared to December 2024, although it showed important casualties in sectors such as Foundry and Autopartes.
Last year, the metallurgical sector suffered an accumulated decrease of 12.1%.

At the sector level, agricultural machinery (16.4%) and bodies and trailers (15.3%) were the ones with the greatest increase in year -on -year terms and have had great influence on the general average of the sector.
On the other hand, the foundry sector (-11.9%) continues to be one of the most affected by auto parts manufacturers (-7.1%).
“In this month it was observed again in the dynamics of the activity of the companies according to the value chain, those suppliers of the agricultural sector were the best performance in interannual terms registered during January”Adimra said.
With respect to the rest, interannual increases are observed in all companies linked to the most important value chains (although with different intensities) except for those found in the automotive value chain.
The president of Adimra, Elio del Rehe said that “While the indicators show a recovery, it is important to note that the comparison is made on a period of deep contraction, with an accumulated fall of -12.1% in 2024”.
In this regard, he stressed that “To consolidate sustainable growth, it is essential to advance an agenda that strengthens productivity and systemic competitiveness, promoting solid and balanced industrial integration”.

In the provincial analysis, it was observed that Santa Fe (5.4%) was the region that presented the greatest increase in its production in interannual terms as the influence of the agricultural machinery sector.

Despite the strong contractions in the activity verified in recent months, there is still no situation of such magnitude in the level of employment provided by companies in the sector, registering a fall in interannual terms of -1.2% and a Light retraction compared to -0.1%, it was reported.
