The incorporation of innovation and automation in mining does not constitute an option, but rather an obligation.
In the mid -nineteenth century, many believed that mining would never change. A miner of that time, munido with its peak and its oil lamp, would hardly have imagined that, in the future, its work would depend less on strength and more on intelligent technology. Today, the reality is clear: The incorporation of innovation and automation in mining does not constitute an option, but rather an obligation.

Those who do not understand this transformation both in Argentina and in the world, will not only be out of the future of the sector, but will see their present diminish. Today, the industry requires safer, efficient and sustainable operations, to the point that there is no possible mining company, there is no possible financing, there is no possible project, without the guarantee of the conditions described. Technology is the way.
Security and production are two sides of the same currency. Improving safety in our operations is more than a corporate value: it is the foundation on which efficiency, productivity and sustainability are constructed. In Cerro Negro, a safe environment not only protects our teams, but also promotes better results and more solid labor relations.
Therefore, in Newmont We have implemented a series of measures to reinforce the safety and operational efficiency of all our collaborators. In terms of personal protection, we acquired 500 Dräger authors and 5 test units for training. We incorporate gas monitoring technology with the purchase of 200 Dräger Xam 5600 monitors to detect carbon dioxide and centralize data with the Dräger Connect software. The human factor must accompany the technological leap and therefore we add security analysts to verify the EPP entry control, use of gas monitors and compliance with all protocols. Security walks were added with inspections led by experts to review standards and detect improvement opportunities.
In addition, we continue to incorporate technology to strengthen safety and productivity in our operations. The Teleoperationwhich we started in 2024, allowed Cerro Negro to become the first mine in Argentina to operate with this technology, which reduces the exposure of workers to operational risks.
New heavy mine equipment (HME) that includes Jumbos Sandvik DD 422I with smart block sensors, stop the equipment automatically in the face of risks. We also add Sandvik Du412I IH drills, capable of operating without supervision in times of shift, improving operational continuity.
Real -time monitoring systems are key, and therefore we are implementing Tags in mining lamps to monitor staff and fixed sensors to measure air quality at strategic points.
Each action in favor of security directly impacts productive continuity, efficiency and, above all, the tranquility of our equipment. It is everyone’s responsibility to build an environment where security is priority at all times. Leaders, in particular, must be the first to set the example and make decisions aligned with our values.
We know that safer mining is a more efficient mining. The future of the sector belongs to those who understand that safety and production do not compete, but are enhanced.
