Alert in the electronic sector: challenges and caution for the coming months

The Argentine Chamber of Electronic, Electromecanic and Luminote Techniques (Cadieel) He turns 21 years of continuous work accompanying the growth of the national productive sector. From the fusion of the camera in 2004 (with the integration of Cadie, Cadiem and, later, Catya), we transit different political and economic contexts, both national and international. But in all cases, we maintained the same purpose: to promote the development of the Argentine industry; strengthen and position it globally; and generate employment.

Recently we present the INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY REPORT OF THE ELECTRONIC SECTOR, ELECTROMECANIC AND LUSINOTECH OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2025, A RELEVATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR THAT REPRESENTS. This reflects a scenario of challenges and caution for the coming months. There you can see that the level of employment remained stable for more than half of the companies while only 4% have decided to expand their staff. On the other hand, a production drop for 38% of SMEs was reported. Likewise, 29% indicated having registered growth, especially highlighting the companies of the Electronics sector.

However, despite the context, There are 21% of companies that plan to invest to increase their capacity or develop new products. That is the entrepreneurial spirit that defines our sector and that needs to be supported. The resilience of our companies, the ability to adapt the sector and the commitment of its professionals allowed us to move forward.

Our anniversary finds us with new challenges ahead, but also with the conviction that the road is with more local production, added value, innovation and integration to new markets. The sector that we represent exports to more than 60 countries and meets the highest international standards. This is the result of the joint effort between companies, institutions and workers who believe in an industry that drives progress, social mobility and technological sovereignty.

In this sense, it is necessary to point out that economic policy decisions must be evaluated based on their impact on the productive and labor framework. The recent elimination of the obligation to process the Certificate of Import of Used Assets (CIB) concerns us deeply. Far from encouraging industrial development, this measure opens the doors to unfair competition, puts formal jobs at risk and generates a currency escape without control.

While the national industry complies with technical regulations, essays and demanding approval, allowing the entry of goods used without the same requirements against any logic of reciprocity and places us in a lower position in international negotiations. Our productive capacities must be defended responsible, each product designed, manufactured and exported in Argentina implies more jobs, more innovation and more opportunities for young people.

National production not only energizes regional economies, but also reinforces its global capacity and competitiveness. Just as in these years we promote the INDETCH 4.0 platform to accelerate the digital transformation of industrial SMEs, or lead initiatives in energy efficiency and smart cities, today we continue to propose public policies that enhance Argentine technology companies, generate formal employment and reinforce national competitiveness.
